shows!
january 26th
[ i recall it being a friday.. ]
all of us at the emily shrine corporation would like to wish you and yours a happy non-holiday season. may you bask in the void and eerie calm that follows months of frantic list-making and errand-running, and may your free time be spent in front of your favorite gaming console or magazine.
we're playing shows in 2007. don't believe me? see for yourself.
september 27th
[ i recall it being a wednesday.. ]
whoa...i feel like the .com craze has been replaced by the myspace.com craze!
(sorry for the lapse in updates)
please view our shows page for rocktober dates.

[ i recall it being a wednesday.. ]
holy bat droppings! we're playing at u.s. beer company in chicago with our friends 'voodoo & valentine' and 'favorite' on june 22nd. jinkies!
may 23rd
[ i recall it being a tuesday.. ]
there's been a change in the lineup for our show at the note, june 13th. park and slowride had to cancel due to a t.v. appearance. so park won't be parking their van near the park as they park their bodies on stage to play for you. (sorry park, i couldn't resist being an idiot...no karate chops next time you see me, okay?) so, best to those guys, and please make every effort to come to the show, which remains in full effect.
i'll make changes on the 'shows' page once i know what the new lineup is.
may 3rd
[ i recall it being a wednesday.. ]
i've added a few shows, so please come and see our band play. also, i'd like to take this opportunity to recommend the new built to spill album, "you in reverse" (i think that's what it's called). it's tight.

[ i recall it being a friday.. ]
i added some shows to the website. more shows will be added soon. pray to whichever deity you serve that emily shrine have a blessed experience at million yen in two weeks as we begin the arduous recording process.
andy said something kind of cool the other day: "if stuff was easy it would be done." stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

well, ben might have set up a myspace account for us, but can you find this on it?...
(tony)
i didn't think so.
february 21st
[ i recall it being a tuesday.. ]
why, oh why, do we have to be so loud at practice?
i'll tell you why. because it's rock and roll, son. reconize.
come see us in march.
february 16th
[ i recall it being a thursday.. ]
it's funny how old songs you wrote regain their relevancy.
thanks to the rabble that colored our evening in joliet. i wanted to give you all a big, sweaty hug. and how about deconstructing jim? man.

[ i recall it being a friday.. ]
poor ben has been asking me to update the 'site for a while...i've finally done it, and you'll notice that february is the month to see us.
man, i've got to stop having just coffee for breakfast. i feel all jittery and magical- like i can cast spells and shit. now it's time to get to work (1/27/2006, 8:49am)...
january 4th
[ i recall it being a wednesday.. ]
emily shrine will play at double door on wednesday, january 18th with the audible campaign, matthew, and paulina. click here for free ticket.
also, (no kidding) we plan on finishing what we started in the studio. the question is: when? the kind folks at million yen are working with our schedule, so it's just a matter of time...
august 25th
[ i recall it being a thursday.. ]
we've been invited to play with hello. i'm victor in kankakee on friday, september 16th. i will post the officially licensed information in the shows section once it is bestowed upon me.
june 7th
[ i recall it being a tuesday.. ]
i like my meals hot and my drummers hotter. that's why it is so difficult to say that one of the hottest drummers i've known- evan mohler- is playing his last show with us on thursday, june 23rd. join us one last time for the incessant tuning of his snare drum and the obligatory shouts for "a pitcher of beer" at the landing in kankakee. (and why not bring evan a birthday present, too? he turns 22 the evening of the show.)
"so is that the end of emily shrine?" you ask. i'm sorry to dissappoint you, but no- it certainly is not. as a matter of fact, tony erazmus has graciously taken back his throne (pun intended) and will be joining us again within the month. it'll be good to have him back...such a bittersweet and humid month this is turning out to be.
thanks for rolling with us. we couldn't roll without you. on that note, i gotta roll...
april 15th
[ i recall it being a friday.. ]
don't worry guys...we're still making ♫. as a matter of fact, we'll be making it for any chicagoans 21-and-up on may 6th at phylis's (free). see shows for details...
march 23rd
[ i recall it being a wednesday.. ]
come see us in kankakee on ben's birthday (he's turning 1 score and 4 years).
march 4th

i haven't posted anything like this in the past, but i found this fun review of a show we did about a year ago that i found while killing time the other day...
university of chicago - shoreland ballroom
december 2nd
[ i recall it being a thursday.. ]
i've been waiting to have our stuff mastered before i let it loose to the public. but, they say if you love something, set it free. run, boy, run... and don't look back.

a snippet of our recent work at million yen studio. rated 't' for teen.

[ i recall it being a wednesday.. ]
well, as i've said a lot recently to a close friend, all good things must end. or in our case, change. tony is going to part ways with emily shrine to actively pursue his graduate degree in music performance. tony, we couldn't have had nearly as good a run as we did without you...we'll miss you. tony's last show with us will be at chicago's double door on saturday, august 25th. please come and send tony off proper-like.
so, that said, i'd like to announce the newest addition to emily shrine (drum roll, please): evan mohler.
for those of you who know evan, i think you'd all agree that we're very fortunate to have him join our band. he has filled in for everybody in emily shrine (except me) at some point or another. scary, huh? we couldn't be more happy, and it's very exciting to think of what fruits we may bare as a result of his aquisition. stay tuned.
august 19th
[ i recall it being a thursday.. ]
well, well, well.
how time does fly! this summer has been incredible for us- thank you to all who made it to our many chicago dates, as well as the diffuse appearances on the road. now that we've had a few weekends at home to screw our heads back on straight, i feel it's high time we got back out there and loosened them up a bit. keep one eye open for us in your neck of the woods. actually, make it two.
july 15th
[ i recall it being a thursday.. ]
recording went great!
june 22nd
[ i recall it being a tuesday.. ]
sometimes no news is good news. that's why i'm pleased that it took me several weeks to update the site- emily shrine has been very busy practicing. that's right, we've kept the song-writing machine full of fuel and well maintained, and are really looking forward to trying it out on the general populus. until we release our record, please come and keep our fire going by joining us at upcoming shows (chicagoans especially). and a happy indepenence day to all...
may 4th
[ i recall it being a tuesday.. ]
ok, we've changed and solidified some plans...
we'll be recording in chicago at million yen with andy gerber and geoff sabin, as we've decided to go to pogo in the future when album time comes again.
all you kankakee cats should swing out to earthworm empire on saturday and keep us company as we mix it up again with the audible campaign. the show'll kick off around 6:30pm.
april 17th
[ i recall it being a saturday.. ]
emily shrine is going back to pogo!
that's right- we're going to record a couple of songs in early july at the lovely pogo studio in champaign, illinois. geoff sabin of the band giant step will be getting his hands dirty with our new music, and helping us to solidify some of our scattered thoughts into songs.
so, i'm currently sitting in my buddy aaron distler's (evansville drummer extraordinaire) crib, waiting to go see the ladykillers as andy takes a catnap on the couch. it turns out that andy has taken over the title as my new nighttime companion with two consecutive late-running excursions, while ben and tony tucked their tails between their legs and retired early. congrats, andy.
march 18th
[ i recall it being a thursday.. ]
guys and gals who've showed up to recent shows, i'd like to thank you very much...especially those of you who traveled out of your way. dekalb was a great time- all the bands were top notch, and i finished reading the great gatsby before the show. all around a great night.
and some news...emily shrine has agreed to press a split 7" record with dekalb locals, blaked. the fellas in blaked are total gems in every respect- great guys and coherent songwriters. we'd be stupid not to take the opportunity to work with them. keep your eyes peeled for the steaming hotness of said record.

[ i recall it being a sunday.. ]
man, last night was intense- i went to see MONSTER JAM! megasaurus was there, and so was grave digger and madusa...totally worth the exorbitant parking and ticket fees ($15 and $22, respectively). aren't you glad our shows don't cost that much? if so, stop by the shows page and check out what we've got in store. also, you can see our archive of past dates; they're posted beneath the upcoming ones.
february 2nd
[ i recall it being a monday.. ]
hey, happy groundhog's day to all! i really hope he didn't see his shadow. or, is it i do hope he saw it? oh well, in any case, i look forward to drinking iced tea and wearing out the slip-n-slide.
in the next day, or so, we'll have our past shows listed on our site. i've heard your requests, and took the time put them in the database. dan the man is figuring out how to display it as we speak. patience is a virtue, my friends.

[ i recall it being a tuesday.. ]
we've decided to reschedule our show in grant park on february 14th to chicago on the 15th. how's that sound?

and as for those of you who plan on coming to the show at the university of chicago on the 23rd, please email me (adam@emilyshrine.com) to get the information necessary for entry to the show, as security is rather tight, and you'll need a contact in the building. see you at the shows...

[ i recall it being a tuesday.. ]
well everyone, i've spent my last week-or-so getting 2-5 hours of sleep each night and boozing it up with my friends. so you can say my new year has been right on track.
you can also say that emily shrine is doing plenty of shows. why don't you click the "shows" link above and see for yourself (especially those of you in the chicago vicinity)?
december 22nd
[ i recall it being a monday.. ]
just saw LotR 3: Return of the King.
highlight of my year.

[ i recall it being a tuesday.. ]
more and more shows in the works!
(and, there's been talk around the ol' shrine camp of putting aside some studio time. but, shhhh...very top secret stuff.)
december 4th
[ i recall it being a thursday.. ]
we are going down to carbondale on saturday to play at our friends brian lorenc and tony alaimo's pad. this show will be of the party nature, and as i understand it, all are welcome to come. they live at 1305 south wall street.
also, emily shrine will be double-gigging on sunday, december 14th. in the late afternoon, we will play at the red cedar lanes in momence. that evening, we will do an accoustic set at the bradley barnes and noble store (by invitation only, so email adam@emilyshrine.com if you are interested).
november 11th
[ i recall it being a tuesday.. ]
a link to a printable/useable-at-show ticket has been put up on our shows page. please go there, or just click this to go directly to the ticket.
*note to self/dan... adam is a coding GENIUS.

[ i recall it being a thursday.. ]
whoa, i just realized while watching haymarket riot last night with friend/webmaster daniel wren, that our friend evan mohler looks like the child of fred popolo and kevin frank if the two were able to produce one. weird, huh?
so, anyways, we will be playing in chicago at the double door with our friends, the goddamn jets, on tuesday, november 25th. you should come! riddle of steel and rollo tomasi will also play that evening. discount tickets will be available soon through this site (or perhaps, a mass-email).
september 20th
[ i recall it being a saturday.. ]
we are no longer playing at the note friday, the 26th, due to a small mixup. however, if you intended on making a night of it, you ought to still go- university plays that evening, and they are a great band that deserves some open ears to recieve them in the city of broad shoulders.
so, i melted into a puddle of goo at the built to spill show thursday, as the heat from the stage was almost unbearable. luckily, my friend evan put me in the freezer and, VOILA!, i was solid again (much like you might see in a tom and jerry cartoon). oh yeah, and i saw giant step at lava in champaign last night. they rocked.
september 7th
[ i recall it being a sunday.. ]
come friday to schubas in chicago (corner of belmont and southport) and see some of chicago's newest all-stars: sleeping at last. they will appear on fox news in the morning this tuesday, the 9th if you'd like a preview.
the band is planning out a new recording, t-shirt designs are being finalized, and more shows are on the backburner (pun intended for those who got it).
august 17th
[ i recall it being a sunday.. ]
thank you, thank you, thank you to everybody who came to see us at hangar 9 on friday! you can't imagine what a good time we had with you.
i'd like to also thank those who stuck it out in the heat saturday to see us at ellis park. i haven't been so hot at a show in all my life, save maybe one time we played at lost cross in the summer.
july 27th
[ i recall it being a sunday.. ]
we'll be in good old stl this coming sunday, the 3rd, so come to the creepy crawl and drink those 16-ounce cans of stag beer with me.
i had such a great time watching the life and times on friday at rocket bar (also in st. louis). go to their website and tell them you heard they could melt steel with their rock-heat.
